Maddison sees knee specialist as he’s set to miss Liverpool clash

Despite being linked with Newcastle United, Maddison is set to see a specialist for his injured knees

Brandon Rodgers has revealed that

James Maddison

has picked up a knee injury on his return from the World Cup and that the player will see a specialist.

Despite picking an injury before the World Cup, Maddison was named in Southgate’s World Cup squad but eventually failed to feature for England due to injury. Now Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the midfielder is out for Leicester’s clash with Liverpool.

Maddison has had 11 goal contributions for

Leicester

in their 15 first games before the World Cup, being among the best in the Premier League but he sat out Leicester’s 3-0 defeat against Newcastle on Boxing Day.

Rodgers talked to the press ahead of their clash with Liverpool, confirming Maddison’s absence by saying:

"He won't be available for the game.

"He was with Mark [Waller], our doctor, getting some specialist advice in London. I'll wait to hear from them later on.

"He hasn't trained with the squad. He was clearly getting treatment out [in Qatar] and the England medical team deemed him okay to train.

"He was available for games [for England]. He's come back here, looked to do some work, and then felt a pain in a different part of his knee."

Maddison’s return could be the key for Leicester’s second part of the season since they are only 4 points clear of the bottom of the league.
