Van Dijk talks about seeing new faces at Anfield amidst strong Gakpo rumors

As Fabrizio Romano reports of an agreement between Liverpool and PSV over Gakpo, van Dijk hopes to see new faces at Liverpool.

Virgil van Dijk likes to see “new players” at Liverpool amidst strong links between Gakpo and Liverpool.

Liverpool was triumphant on their return to the Premier League as they defeated Aston Villa 3-1 with goals from van Dijk, Salah and Bajcetic.

Van Dijk, who played a big part in Liverpool’s win, has talked about “new players” that might come to Liverpool in January transfer window. Meanwhile, outlets like the Athletic and Fabrizio Romano have recently reported that a €42m agreement have been reached with Liverpool and PSV over Cody Gakpo.

"Hopefully the injured players can come back soon, and hopefully we can welcome some new players at our football club,"

Van Dijk

told the reporters after the win.

"We will see. I think that quality is always welcome at Liverpool."

Romano has reported that Gakpo’s medical is scheduled to be in the next few days. The Dutch World Cup star has already scored 9 goals and provided 12 assists in 14 Eredivisie game.

played a big role in Netherlands’ World Cup run as they reached the quarter-finals since he scored 3 goals. The PSV winger has been heavily linked with Manchester United but it seems that the deal may have been hijacked by the Reds.
