Napoli leading chase for World Cup star Azzedine Ounahi

The Serie A league leader Napoli is interested in the signing of Morocco star Azzedine Ounahi in the January transfer window.

According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio,

Napoli

is thinking about signing

Azzedine Ounahi

in the January transfer window and has made the first contact with the French side

Angers

.

Napoli is reportedly willing to sign Ounahi in January for €25m, but then let him stay at Angers on loan for the rest of the season.

Premier League clubs including Leeds United, Newcastle United, and Leicester City are also interested in the 22-year-old Morocco international. Roma also has been linked with Ounahi but Di Marzio claims that Napoli is the favorite to sign him.

Ounahi broke his silence on his future on Saturday and admitted that he is ready to leave Angers.

“I told the President, the sporting project comes first. I don’t have a favourite league or an ideal destination, I want above all to evaluate the sporting project.

“I know that I still have progress to make at the club where I will go. I want to be clear with everyone, I have no preference for this or that league, as if there is a real sporting project, then that’s where I will go.”

Ounahi who plays as a midfielder joined Ligue 1 club Angers on a four-year deal in 2021. He has played in 47 matches for Angers but it was his performances in the 2022 World Cup that have made him one of the most sought-after players in European football. He helped Morocco to become the first-ever African side to reach the semi-finals in Qatar.
