Herrera reveals his role in Cavani joining Man United

Athletic Bilbao midfielder reveals that he suggested Manchester United sign his former PSG teammate Edinson Cavani.

Ander Herrera who has been lately talking about his time at Manchester United, has revealed that he suggested Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sign Uruguay international

Edinson Cavani

in 2020.

"When Cavani went to Manchester, I was with him in Paris [beforehand] and when I spoke with Ole I said 'you have to sign this guy, he is a player who is going to give everything for you, for the club, he is a Manchester United player.”

Herrera

said.

"And also Cavani, he had some options and I told him that there is no better option than United. It is true that the pandemic killed the Cavani moment because he was doing great before the pandemic. But I think he did good for the club and, yes, Ole, all the memories that I have with him, they are great."

Cavani, who made a name for himself at Napoli, managed to score 200 goals for PSG, becoming their all-time leading goalscorer before joining Manchester United where he scored 17 in his debut season. Cavani’s second season at United was not as prolific as he scored only two and he left United when his contract expired in 2022.
