Scaloni is open to making changes to Argentina squad

Despite the World Cup being less than a week away, Argentina coach Scaloni says that there still could be changes to his squad.

Argentina have submitted their 26-man squad for the World Cup but Scaloni declares that if any player is not fit before the deadline, he will make changes to his squad.

Argentina will face Saudi Arabia on November 22 as their first game in Group C of

World Cup

2022 but there are some doubts about the fitness of the likes of Paulo Dybala who didn’t feature in Argentina’s 5-0 victory over UAE today.

However, the rules allow teams to make changes to their squad until the last day before the tournament but only from the 55-man list they submitted to FIFA, something which Scaloni is quite open to doing.

"We have some little problems and still have some days to decide the list,"

he told TyC Sports.

"We can make changes, hopefully not, but there is the possibility.

"There are several players who today have been left out of the side because they were either not fit to play or there was a risk of injury.

"I can't guarantee that these players are fine. In principle, they are, but you have to be cautious. That's why we have been careful with the minutes."

Argentina’s 5-0 victory over UAE which had Di Maria scoring twice with Messi, Alvarez and Correa scoring the rest, may have eased some of Scaloni’s fears as the likes of Di Maria have proven fit. Midfielder Rodrigo de Paul praised

Argentina

’s mentality after the game:

"

We played with a World Cup mentality today,"

said de Paul.

"I think this was a good test but we played well and also kept a clean sheet.

"If we want our opening [World Cup] match to go well, we have to arrive with this same mentality. We expressed ourselves well and continually want to improve."
