Atletico misses out on Europa League spot after a 2-1 defeat to Porto
Despite already being eliminated from the Champions League, Atletico's showdown against Porto was vital for Diego Simeone's men to secure a Europa League spot. A 2-0 defeat to Porto was enough to send Atletico out of both European competitions for the remainder of the season.
A 2-2 draw with Leverkusen sealed
Atletico's early elimination from the Champions League. Sitting third in La Liga with 8 points distance from the joint leaders, Real Madrid and Barcelona, Atleti’s last group game was important for any chance of European silverware for the club.

Portoa 2-0 first-half victory as the Portuguese side continued to dominate the rest of the game. A late own goal from Ivan Marcano revived Atletico's hopes but wasn't enough to secure them the Europa League spot Leverkusen stole.

Leverkusenheld Club Brugge to a 0-0 draw as the German side finished third, securing a spot in the Europa League.
Despite their woeful Champions League start, Diego Simeone's side was unbeaten for six games before losing 3-2 to Cadiz on Saturday.
