Neymar joined the Catalan giants from

Santos

in 2013, and the initial fee of the transfer was reported to be around €57m. it was later revealed that

Barcelona

had paid more than €85 million to bring the prodigy to their side, which resulted in the club and its then president  charged with tax fraud.

Neymar

, his parents, and former Barcelona president Sandro Rosell for alleged irregularities involved in his transfer that calls for Neymar to face a

five-year prison sentence

Although Neymar's lawyer, Baker McKenzie argues that the Spanish court lacks authority as the alleged offenses took place outside of Spain,

the PSG striker

and his father can face up to two years in prison if found guilty as they will face a fine of more than €10m.

The Brazilian firm, DIS claims the company was entitled to 40 percent of Neymar's difference but received a smaller compensation because part of the transfer fee was concealed. The trial is expected to last until the end of October as all defendants have denied charges.
