Brugge reach knockouts for the first time after a draw with Atletico

Club Brugge reached the Champions League knockout stages for the first time after a goalless draw away to Atletico Madrid.

Club Brugge

has reached the Champions League knockouts after a 0-0 draw against

Atletico Madrid

on Wednesday.

The Belgian club is at top of the Group B with 10 points after four matches. Atletico is second with four points. Porto and Leverkusen both have three points and will face each other later on Wednesday.

Atletico had a good chance in the 19th minute to score but

Griezmann’s

strike went just wide of the post.

The referee awarded Brugge a penalty after Buchanan was fouled but the referee changed his mind after viewing a replay and instead showed a yellow card to Buchanan.

Correra scored for Atletico just after half-time but it was ruled out for offside. Brugge was reduced to 10 men in the 82nd minute after Kamal Sowah was shown his second yellow card.

Brugge goalkeeper Mignolet denied Atletico in the last 10 minutes of the match on two occasions. First, he saved a powerful effort from Morata with his head and then stopped Cunha's shot.

Atletico has failed to score in five of their last six matches in the Champions League. Club Brugge manager Carl Hoefkens is just the third individual to see his side keep a clean sheet in his first four games as a coach in the Champions League.
