Conor Gallagher was "destined" to score Chelsea's late winner
Conor Galagher’s 90th-minute winner awarded Chelsea a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace as the midfielder scored his first goal for the Blues against his former side.
After an early goal from Odsonne Eduoard, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalized for the Blues later in the first half. However, the Eagles held on to the 1-1 draw until their former loanee,
Conor Gallagher, curled a sublime late winner, scoring his first goal for
Chelsea.
The 22-year-old, who came in off the bench in Selhurst Park to score the Blues’ winner, told
BBC Sportafter the match:
"It's a very special moment to come on and get the winner and my first goal for Chelsea.
"It was written in the stars. Unfortunately, it came against Palace, but I'm just buzzing to get my first goal.
"Everyone knows how much I loved it here [at Palace] and I thank the whole club and the fans – even today with the reception they gave me."
After his performance against
Crystal Palace, the England international is optimistic to get more opportunities.
"Hopefully I can build a bit of confidence with the goal and push on,"
he said
.
"I want to work as hard as I can for [Potter] and be available wherever he needs me, whether starting or coming off the bench.
"Obviously I want to start, and I need to show him I'm good enough."
