Arda Turan decides to hang up his boots
The ex-Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Turkey player has pronounced that he will hang up his boots at the age of 35.
Arda Turan
has not had a club since his deal with
Galatasarayreached its end last season, and he has now said that he will call it quits.
The midfielder had a great career that started at youth side Altıntepsi Makelspor. He then made a move to Galatasaray and contributed to the Super Lig win in 2008 in his debut season with the club.
He then joined
Atletico Madridin 2011 and appeared in 46 games in the 2013-14 season, when they won the La Liga title and got to the final of the Champions League. Following that, he had a five-year spell with
Barcelonafrom 2015 to 2020, before he played for Galatasaray in his final season.
“It has been an amazing journey for me, for my mother, for my father, for my brother, my wife and my children. I hope it has been for you as well," Turan said. "It was difficult, but it was beautiful. I give my dues to everyone who loves me, values me while playing, values me and hates me."
The legend has said that he wants to continue his role in football as a coach.
