Leno insists his Arsenal departure wasn’t about performance

Bernd Leno has slammed the “politics” related to his move out from Arsenal, saying that his departure was not be influenced by his display for the Premier League side.

Fulham

this summer after climbing down the pecking order for the most part of the previous season. The Gunners also penned a contract with United State shot-stopper Matt Turner and Leno insisted that his move out was not related to his performance levels at the club.

Talking to Sport BILD, Leno said: 

"When I realised that it wasn't about performance or quality, I knew I had to go. During the preparation, I saw that it's not about performance, it's just about politics. It was clear to me: I have to get out of here.”

Leno has become a regular played at Fulham but he has yet to have a clean sheet in four matches in the Premier League. however, he has pulled off 19 saves to help his side sit 10th.

The 30-year-old is going to find his form soon and make his way into Hansi Flick’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar.
