Calabria: "Milan learned some lessons from Liverpool loss"

Davide Calabria maintains the Champions League must be Milan‘s home.

Davide Calabria

says that the

Champions League

should be "Milan's home," and he thinks

Milan

have learned a lot from their games against Liverpool and Porto last season. At a press conference at the

Red Bull Arena

, the Italy international was quoted saying, "We can't wait to get started."

"We've done a great job getting ready, and we can't wait to get going. Milan needs to be at home in the Champions League. We'll give this competition our all. We look at each game individually, and we don't limit ourselves. I'm hoping we can do what Paolo Maldini did. Is what we want to achieve."

Last season, the Rossoneri didn't make it out of the Champions League group stage. They came in last, behind Liverpool, Porto, and Atletico Madrid.

They lost both times they played against the Reds. The first was a 3-2 loss at Anfield, where Mo Salah's penalty was saved by

Mike Maignan

. The Rossoneri's hopes of making it to the Round of 16 were ended by a 2-1 loss at San Siro.

Calabria thinks that he and his teammates have learned from those losses and that the new players will help the team get out of the group stage this season. "I think last season was one of the hardest in the Champions League, but playing at this level helps you get better. The defender said the team is more experienced, moving faster, and ready to play.

"Charles De Ketelaere is talented, good with the ball at his feet, and knows how to play at the right speed. I don't think Divock Origi was in as good of shape as he is now, but he is very strong and can help this season. For sure, the games against Liverpool and Porto helped us. They showed us how tough this competition is. There is more intensity than Serie A, and now we have what we didn't have last season."

The Rossoneri captain talked to the media after his boss, Stefano Pioli, said that Milan has already forgotten about the derby and "respects" RB Salzburg.
