Gattuso: "I know that people are excited about Cavani, I am too"

The coach of Valencia, Gennaro Gattuso, addressed this Sunday the possible arrival of the Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani.

The transfer window is getting closer, and

Edinson Cavani

is arguably the biggest star in Spain. The Uruguayan is determined to join La Liga this summer, and his options appear to have been down to only two teams.

Valencia

has been in contact with Cavani for several weeks to bolster their roster with a top performer. However,

Real Sociedad

have also entered the picture since Alexander Isak's sale.

Gennaro Gattuso

, Valencia's manager, addressed the matter immediately before Valencia's Monday night match against Atletico Madrid.

"I'm naturally upbeat, and since we're working and communicating, I believe we have a shot. Given how hard Peter Lim is working and how much he believes in our current possibilities, I believe we will sign Cavani. The Italian acknowledged that should Cavani not end up signing; there was no backup plan. Mundo Deportivo reported the words.

"When you talk about Cavani, he is not a typical player; he has competed at the highest level for a considerable amount of time at fantastic clubs. He is 35 years old, yet he has a great mentality. I am referring to the technical aspect here; the money is not my concern, and the two are unrelated. The issue is that operations cannot be finished in two minutes since so many individuals talk throughout them.

Cavani, a legitimate goal scorer, would undoubtedly give Valencia's offense a cutting edge. Because neither Marcos Andre nor Maxi Gomez appeared to be able to fill the vacuum left by

Goncalo Guedes

in the first two games, concerns that Valencia may be deficient in goals up front were confirmed. Hugo Duro has proven to be a reliable choice, but Los Che's potential would soar if Cavani joined their ranks.
