Berlusconi has harsh words for Stroppa and the 'scandalous referee'

Monza President Berlusconi blasts Stroppa and 'scandalous referee.

After a third straight loss, President

Silvio Berlusconi

didn't hold back from criticizing the "scandalous" referee or his coach

Giovanni Stroppa

. "I didn't see any of my ideas being taken into account."

There are rumors that Stroppa could lose his job because

Monza

lost all three of its first-ever Serie A games. Berlusconi hasn't changed the way he thinks about sports in general. When he was in charge of

Milan

, he was known for publicly criticizing the strategies of his coaches all the time.

"It was a bad game, but the other team had 12 players," Berlusconi told reporters after Udinese beat them 2-1 at the U-Power Stadium in Monza. "It was a scandal that the ref was on their side. The referee's name should be changed from Di Bello to Di Brutto. This was a bad joke since Bello means "beautiful" and "Brutto" means "ugly."

"The winning goal should have been called back because the player who scored it was offside, and the referee always blew the whistle against us when there was a fight." Berlusconi was not kind to his own tactician, Stroppa, which led to rumors that Stroppa could already be fired.

"Stroppa is with us, and we hope he can get his life back on track and get better. Starting the Serie A season with three straight losses is a very, very bad thing. We need to get those who aren't in shape back and insist on tactical systems that aren't being followed. When the other team is in our half, the two strikers have to stay there and be ready to run after a long ball from our goalkeeper.

"I didn't see my team do that once today. Our strikers were deep, so the goalkeeper had to pass it through the fullbacks and midfielders first. Instead, our rules say that we should have passed it over the middle of the field. Before the game, I went into the locker room and told the players that we had to win and couldn't lose.

"I told the defenders that they should man-mark the Udinese strikers and stay close to them, but they didn't do that. I told the goalkeeper to hit it long and the strikers to get as many shots on goal as possible. These were all good suggestions that the team did not follow."
