Nice's president hints at Cavani's wish to join La Liga

Edinson Cavani's name has been linked to a move to Nice, but according to president Jean-Pierre Rivere, the striker has better options elsewhere.

After leaving

Manchester United

,

Edinson Cavani

wants to move to Spain, according to Nice president

Jean-Pierre Rivere

, who has ruled out making a deal to sign the Uruguayan player.

Cavani left United as a free agent at the end of last season. He had played for United for two years and scored 12 goals in 41 Premier League games. The 35-year-old had scored 200 goals for

Paris Saint-Germain

, making him the club's all-time top scorer. He was rumored to be going back to France to play for Nice.

But Rivere has put an end to that talk by saying that the striker wants to play in LaLiga. Rivere told reporters, "Cavani wants to play in Spain." "We'll stop talking about Cavani coming to

Nice

. What's important is how well the team works together.

"The coach has needs, and we'll do our best to meet them. It's important to find a team that has a good mix of young and old players and more than just one-star player. Having a star player is not the goal.

"The goal is to have players who do well and listen to what the coach wants so that they can work as well as possible. So let's close the case with Cavani. I already explained it, but I'll do it again."

After finishing fifth in Ligue 1 last season, Nice sent their coach Christophe Galtier to PSG. They recently hired Aaron Ramsey and Kasper Schmeichel after bringing

Lucien Favre

back as head coach in June.
