Dynamo Kyiv boss outraged as Fenerbahce fans sing Putin's name

The head coach of Ukraine did not attend the press conference in protest of the behavior of the rival fans.

Dynamo Kyiv

head coach Mircea Lucescu expressed his anger after the match against

Fenerbahçe

in the Champions League qualifiers, where rival fans chanted Vladimir Putin's name in the stadium.

While the Ukrainian side managed to beat their opponents 2-1 in Istanbul thanks to Oleksandr Karavayev's winning goal, Lucescu did not attend the post-match press conference in protest. While the game ended 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes, Karavayev's goal was scored in the 114th minute and led to his team's victory. The win sent them through to the next round to play against Strom Graz in Austria.

According to Ukrainian media, Lucescu told reporters:

"We cannot accept the behaviour of the fans. I did not expect such chants. It is a pity."

Russia attacked Ukraine on the order of Putin, which led to the death of thousands of citizens and the migration of many people from their country, and millions of refugees went to other countries. On July 18, the United Nations confirmed that 5,110 civilians had been killed and 6,752 injured since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.
