Bale ‘happy and settled’ hints at Real Madrid’s bitterness

Gareth Bale hinted that he is happier at Los Angeles FC than he was at Real Madrid after scoring his first goal in the MLS.

Gareth Bale

is "happy and settled" at

Los Angeles FC

after scoring his first goal for the team. The Wales star's words suggest that things aren't going well with Real Madrid.

Bale ended his nearly 10-year run with

Real Madrid

last season. He won two more titles in La Liga and the Champions League, but he was still a bit player at the

Santiago Bernabeu

.

The forward only played 12 games for Madrid last year because he spent the 2020-21 season on loan with his old team,

Tottenham

. But Bale got off to a great start in the MLS on Saturday when he came off the bench for LAFC's first game and scored a great goal to help them beat

Sporting KC

2-0.

In his post-game interview, he said, "I'm enjoying it here. Everyone at the club has made me feel very welcome, and I've fit in right away." The Welshman added a possible dig at how Madrid treated him by saying, "I think any player will tell you that they start to play their best football when they feel happy and settled."

Just before the hour mark, Cristian Aranga scored the first goal for the visitors at Children's Mercy Park. Bale then came off the bench to play for the first time for the club. His poor play helped LAFC win their third straight game and keep their lead at the top of the Western Conference. They are trying to build momentum for a possible push for the playoffs later in the season.

"First and foremost, I think the most important thing is that we won the game," Bale said. "We all knew that the first half wasn't as good as it could have been, but the coach gave us a great pep talk and got us going.

"It was nice to come on and score a goal to help the team get three points. From a personal point of view, it's nice to get off to a good start and help the team get three points. The change has been normal. In Europe, we're in pre-season right now, so I'm quickly getting back into shape. The club is doing a great job of helping me improve and not pushing me too fast. I'm feeling better and better, and I'm happy to be able to help tonight."
