Everton & Arsenal rejected chance to sign Lemar

The French star is on the verge of leaving Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal

and Everton rejected the chance to sign

Atletico Madrid

winger

Thomas Lemar

.

Lemar, who did not have a good season at Atlético, plans to continue his football career somewhere other than the Spanish capital. However, the French star extended his contract until 2027 after agreeing to a 50% pay cut with Atletico. According to reports from English sources, Arsenal and Everton inquired about the terms of recruiting the 26-year-old midfielder, but none of them showed interest in this transfer.

This caused Lemar to accept the offer of lower salary from Atlético and a long-term contract. Arsenal tried to sign Lemar during his time at Monaco, but in 2018 he joined Atletico and it was rumored that Arsene Wenger made a last-minute bid of £92m for him.

However, the Gunners have spent £120m on Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira this summer, but Everton have yet to spend in this window.
