Official: Roma signed Paulo Dybala as a free agent

The Argentine finally decided to move to Italian capital and play under Mourinho.

Roma

announced that Argentine star Paulo Dybala has joined the club as a free agent after his contract with Juve expired.

The former Juve star spent 7 brilliant seasons in this team and won 5 Serie A championships and a Champions League runner-up. He had announced earlier in the year that he would leave Juve at the end of the season, and despite rumors of his presence in the Premier League, Inter took the lead in signing him. However, after Romelu Lukaku returned to Milan on loan, the Nerazzurri appeared to be no longer interested in signing Dybala, and he was then rumored to be joining Napoli and Roma.

Jose Mourinho was instrumental in convincing Dybala to stay in the Italian capital and the Argentinian forward has signed a three-year contract.

He said:

"The days that have led up to me signing this contract have been filled with so many emotions.

"The speed and determination with which Roma demonstrated just how much they wanted me made all the difference.

"I am joining a team that is on the up, a club that continues to put in place strong foundations for the future, and a coach, Jose Mourinho, that it will be a privilege to work with.

"As an opponent, I have always admired the atmosphere created by the Roma fans - I now cannot wait for the chance to salute them while wearing this shirt."
