Van de Beek not pleased with how fans treated Maguire

Another victory on tour for the Red Devils was ruined by a disdainful reception or their skipper.

Donny van de Beek

has backed

Harry Maguire

when the defender was booed by the fans in their 3-1 victory over

Crystal Palace

in the pre-season clash on Sunday. The

Manchester United

midfielder was criticized harshly by fans and wishes to be treated better.

Erik ten Hag

’s men kept their winning fashion going, with Maguire performing strongly that night, keen on putting the previous season behind him.

However, he was subjected to bitter response from fans and Van de Beek question why they thought he deserved such treatment.

"I heard [the boos] as well,"

the Dutchman stated after the match.

"I don't know really what happened.

"Today, Harry was playing really well. He was aggressive, got so many balls - that means he has a big personality.

"He has a lot of experience. That's positive, his performance today."

Maguire is going to keep the armband under the reign of the Dutch manager, having had it under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick’s reign as well.
