Sevilla pen with Galatasaray’s Marcao as Carlos’ replacement
Having cashed in on Diego Carlos, who joined Aston Villa, Sevilla have penned with a new centre-back from Galatasaray.
The Spanish side cashed in on Diego Carlos and the player made a move to
Aston Villain June, in a contract that was worth about £34million (€40m), considering the potential bonuses as well.
Sevilla, a team that are accustomed to selling their best players for profit, were still able to make a team that can compete in La Liga and Europe.
The 26-year-old has penned a five-year contract, moving away from Turkish giants Galatasaray.
He is now Sevilla’s first signing of the next season and he has gone to South Korea to link up with his new squad before their pre-season friendly game against Tottenham on Saturday.
Marcao might be the only centre-back Sevilla acquire this summer, with Jules Kounde’s future being uncertain.
Kounde has been linked with a move to Chelsea for a long time now, with the Blues looking for defensive reinforcements after Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger departed the club for Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.
