Mauricio Pochettino breaks his silence on Paris Saint-Germain sacking

Mauricio Pochettino breaks his silence after his departure from Paris Saint-Germain was confirmed.

PSG

confirmed on Tuesday that they have terminated Mauricio Pochettino's contract after 18 months in charge. Pochettino had another year left on his contract but the club despite winning the

Ligue 1

title decided to part ways with him.

Former Tottenham manager will receive a payoff of around €10 million for himself and his coaching staff. PSG announced Christophe Galtier as Pochettino's successor on Tuesday.

"I want to wish everyone at PSG the very best for the future – the owners, the board, the players, all the staff, and the supporters,"

Pochettino wrote on his Instagram.

"To Nasser [Al-Khelaifi, PSG president] – I want to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of the PSG family again.

"We enjoyed some amazing moments and big wins all together and, as a coaching staff, with every experience, we always take learnings to advance our evolution for the future.

"We are proud to finish as league champions at a club that has meant so much to me and my family, from my time here as a player and a captain, and now as a coach."

Pochettino replaced Thomas Tuchel as PSG manager in January 2021. PSG finished second in Ligue 1 behind Christophe Galtier's Lille and exited the Champions League at the semi-final stage to Manchester City. They won the Ligue 1 next season but this time exited the Champions League at the round-of-16 stage to Real Madrid.
