Setien to come back to management two years after Barca

Quique Setien is close to being named the new coach of Al-Shabab, as per reports from Mundo Deportivo.

Quique Setien

has managed

Barcelona

,

Real Betis

, Las Palmas, Lugo, Racing Santander and some other teams before.

He has closed a contract to become the manager of the Middle Eastern outfit for two years, with an annual salary of €3.7m, and the number includes what his coaching staff would earn. If it takes place, this is going to be Setien’s first senior position since departing Barcelona in 2020 and being replaced by Ronald Koeman.

Setien would have his second foreign adventure following a short spell at Equatorial Guinea in 2007.

However, he is going to see some familiar faces in the Middle East, such as ex-Seville playmaker Ever Banega who plays for

Al-Shabab

and ex-Betis man Alfred N’Diaye. They ended the previous league season sitting fourth and are going to become better under the role of Setien.
