Al-Khelaifi confirms PSG will snub Zidane and appoint ‘other option’

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of Paris Saint-Germain, has confirmed that Zinedine Zidane will not be the new manager of the club. Instead, Christophe Galtier is set to take the job.

Zidane was expected to take over at

PSG

after taking a break from managing, but in the past few weeks, Galtier has moved to the front of the line to replace

Mauricio Pochettino

. After leading Lille to an unexpected Ligue 1 title in 2020/21, the manager spent last season with Nice.

Al-Khelaifi

told Le Parisien that the club had never talked to Zidane and that they had "chosen another option": "

Zinedine Zidane

? I'll tell you one thing: neither directly nor indirectly, we never talked to him. Many clubs and national teams are interested in him, but we have never talked to him.

"Zidane was not the best choice for us. We picked a coach who will be the best fit for what we want to do. Were the fans upset that Galtier got the job instead of Zidane? The reality is different from the dream. It's good to dream big, but today we have to be more practical than ever. We no longer want flashy, bling-bling things. We want the truth"

The PSG president also said that talks with Nice about Galtier are going well and that he hopes to reach a deal. He said, "We're having talks with Nice." "This isn't a secret. I hope we can reach a deal quickly."
