Beckham believes World Cup being held in winter can benefit England

David Beckham says that the fact that the World Cup will start in November is a first and that it could be a great chance for England.

David Beckham

says that the timing of the World Cup in Qatar could help

England

win a major tournament for the first time in 56 years.

Gareth Southgate

's team is trying to win a major tournament for the first time since 1966.

The Three Lions made it to the semi-finals in

Russia

four years ago, and they lost the Euro 2020 final to

Italy

on penalties last year. England had a bad month in June. They lost twice to Hungary and tied with

Germany

and Italy in the Nations League, but they are still considered among the favorites to win the World Cup.

Beckham had a great international career and won 115 caps for England. He played in three World Cups, but his teams never won. But England's Group B season starts on November 21 against Iran. Beckham says that the timing of the tournament could be good for Southgate's team.

He told his former England and

Manchester United

teammate Gary Neville on The Overlap podcast, "Personally, I think it's a huge chance for our team."

"You said that we never used fatigue as an excuse before, but the truth is that we had just finished a tough season in the Premier League, which is the toughest league in the world, and we were tired and wanted a break.

"You don't have that long to get back on your feet after a hard season. But these players are in the middle of their season and at the top of their game when they come to this tournament. There's no reason for them not to be at the top of their game. This is a very big chance for our players. We have a young, fun team, and our coach has worked with these players for a long time.

"I really enjoy watching this England team play because they are exciting, play with passion, and play like they want to be there. As an England fan, that's exactly what you want to see. Our fans have all of a sudden come back together to support this team. I'd say the fans stopped caring about the national team for a moment. I wouldn't say they stopped loving the team, but there was a disconnect.

"Now I see what you mean. I also think Gareth has done a great job leading this team." Beckham also said that the current Three Lions team is very likable. He praised players like Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling for talking to fans about racism and other social issues when they are not on the field.

"This team is full of excitement," he said next. "I talk about these players and don't just mean that they play football. I love that this generation of players, especially in England, are using their power on the field to try to make a difference off the field.

"I've seen the work Marcus, Raheem, and other players have done. It's amazing how much good they do outside the game by using their platform to help others and make changes.

"I love this group of players and this generation because they are helping other people and teaching people about racism. They are making a difference, and I love them."
