Kompany close to become next Burnley manager after leaving Anderlecht

Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany is close to becoming the next Burnley manager.

Anderlecht

has parted company with head coach Vincent Company by mutual consent.

Kompany confirmed his departure from Anderlecht on Wednesday, with a club statement reading:

"Today only one feeling prevails: I am proud that I was able to start this new chapter at the club of my heart. I have now been a player and a coach of RSC Anderlecht, but above all I remain a loyal fan."

According to the English press, former

Manchester City

captain Vincent Company is in talks with

Burnley

about their vacant manager’s job after leaving his role as Anderlecht boss.

Fabrizio Romano also claims Kompany is close to being appointed as the new Burnley manager.

Burnley was relegated from the Premier League last week and will lose several players due to a difficult financial situation. Sean Dyche was sacked but it was not enough to prevent the club from finishing 18th.

Kompany had been in charge of Anderlecht since August 2020, although he started the previous season as a player-manager before choosing to concentrate on playing.

The 36 year old Kompany finished third with Anderlecht in the last two seasons of the Belgian League.
