Antonio Conte tells Arteta to ‘be more focused and stop complaining'

After Tottenham's 3-0 win against Arsenal on Thursday, Antonio Conte encouraged Mikel Arteta to quit publicly criticizing referees.

According to Tottenham manager Antonio Conte, Mikel Arteta

should focus on

Arsenal

rather than whining. Spurs beat Arsenal 3-0 in the Premier League on Thursday to deny the Gunners the three points they needed to finish in the top four, and the gap between the two teams is now just one point with two games remaining.

Son won the penalty that

Harry Kane

converted for the game's first goal, and

Rob Holding

received his second yellow card in the 33rd minute for a tackle on the South Korean international. Since Arteta took over in December 2019, Arsenal has received 13 Premier League red cards, five more than any other team.

Early in the second half, Kane doubled his tally, and Son put Spurs 3-0 up, with Arteta saying after the game that he couldn't comment on the refereeing decisions.

"He needs to keep working because he's very excellent." It's not pleasant to constantly hear someone whine. Every game allows us to express our dissatisfaction. Do you hear me complain about Fabinho and all the fouls at Liverpool?" No. He can follow my advice, but I don't mind if he doesn't." Alternatively, he would be "grounded for six months."

Conte, on the other hand, thought referee Paul Tierney made the correct judgment as Spurs won their third consecutive home league game against Arsenal for the first time since 1961. "He grumbles a lot. He needs to concentrate more on his team. He needs to concentrate more on his work," Conte stated.

The match was initially set for January, but it was postponed at Arsenal's request due to absences due to COVID-19, injuries, and the Africa Cup of Nations. "[Arteta] complained about the fixtures after Arsenal had an extraordinary postponement with only one COVID case," Conte continued. We now play at 12 p.m. on Sunday, whereas they do not play until Monday. We can't constantly be unhappy.

"[Arteta] is a very excellent coach who I believe has the potential to become a big coach in the future, but I have heard him moan a lot in the last six months."

Conte was keen to tell his players that their derby victory would be meaningless if they didn't back up their win over Arsenal with a win over Burnley at the weekend. "It was an excellent performance." "Our attitude to managing the game was positive from the beginning to the end," Conte stated.

"Winning this game provided us the opportunity to continue [the fight] for a Champions League spot." I appreciate the dedication. "I told the players that it's fine to celebrate, but it doesn't mean anything if we don't win on Sunday."
