Isco teases his and Marcelo's deletion from Madrid lineup on Instagram

Isco and Marcelo have had fantastic seasons at Real Madrid, but this season they have found themselves as outsiders on the sideline.

Isco's time at

Real Madrid

may be coming to an end, but the midfielder managed to find a laugh when wishing teammate Marcelo a happy birthday.

Marcelo celebrated his 34th birthday on Thursday. Since joining Real Madrid in 2006, the left-back has won five

LaLiga

titles, two Copa del Rey wins, and four

Champions League

trophies.

After joining Madrid from Malaga in 2013, Isco quickly cemented himself as a crucial component in Carlo Ancelotti's system.

However, the 30-year-old has suffered from injuries and Zinedine Zidane only played him rarely in 2020-21.

Isco's troubles have continued under Ancelotti's second time in command, as he has only played 386 minutes over 16 outings in all competitions this season.

Marcelo has played 17 times for a total of 790 minutes, with only three of those being starts.

While celebrating Marcelo's birthday, Isco was able to recognize the humor in the scenario.

"Happy birthday legend," a photo of Marcelo and Isco on the latter's Instagram story was captioned. "It was hard for me to find a photo of when we played!"

Having said that, Isco should have had no trouble finding a photo showing the two playing together.

Marcelo started and Isco came in as a substitute in a title-clinching win over Espanyol just a month ago. Both players are unlikely to return to Madrid next season to assist the club win additional championships.
