Rangnick to become new Austria manager; will continue at Man Utd

Ralf Rangnick is expected to be named Austria's next manager, but he will continue to consult for Manchester United until 2024.

Ralf Rangnick

, 63, took over at the club from

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

at the end of November, agreeing to serve as interim manager until the summer before returning to a consultancy role for two more years.

Rangnick's performances, on the other hand, have been dismal, with United currently sitting in sixth place in the Premier League, six points behind

Arsenal

in fourth place and the final

Champions League

position for next season as the season draws to a close.

Erik ten Hag, the

Ajax

manager, has been named United's permanent manager for next season, though the German will continue to work as a consultant until 2024, as planned. Rangnick, on the other hand, has yet to sign an agreement with

Austria

, and the final arrangements are still being worked out.

Rangnick's prospective hiring is anticipated to be given formal permission by board members at an Austrian FA (FB) executive committee meeting on Friday morning, and an announcement might come soon after. The OFB had to officially deny engaging Rangnick about the empty managerial position at the start of the month.
