Gonzalo Higuain set to retire by season's end - says father
Gonzalo Higuain's father Jorge has said that his son would hang up his boots at the conclusion of the season after playing for Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus, Milan, and Chelsea.
According to his father, the 34-year-old is now under contract with
Inter Miamiand this season will be his final as a professional footballer. Jorge Higuain has announced that his son would retire at the end of the
MLSseason. In America, the regular season concludes in November, with the play-off final taking place on December 11.
“I don’t think he will return to Argentina, he told me that he will retire at the end of the season,” Higuain’s father told TNT Sports in Argentina.
“I’d like to see him in the world of football after the end of his career. He knows a lot about this sport. He has everything to triumph. It will be a shame if he doesn’t continue in football.”
He began his professional football career with River Plate before joining the
LaLigagiants Real Madrid in January 2007 under Fabio Capello where he scored 107 goals for Los Blancos in 190 games
El Pipita spent most of his professional career in Italy, playing for Napoli, Juventus, and Milan. and in 224 games in Italy's top division, he netted 125 goals: 91 with Napoli, 66 with Juventus, and eight with Milan.
In 2015-16, he set a new
Serie Ascoring record with 36 goals in 35 league games for Napoli. Ciro Immobile of Lazio equaled his previous best in the 2019-20 season. The Argentine also had a six-month loan spell with Chelsea, when he scored five goals in 18 games.
