Rangnick: Cavani will miss a 'couple of weeks' due to hamstring injury

Through picking up an injury, Manchester United and Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani will most likely miss matches against Leicester City and Everton.

Ralf Rangnick has announced that

Manchester United

winger Edinson Cavani would miss a "few of weeks" due to an injury he sustained while on international duty.

During the international break, Cavani was subbed in a 2-0 victory over Chile, as

Uruguay

clinched the third position in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers following a run of four wins in a row.

Rangnick acknowledged the revelation during a pre-match press conference before Saturday's

Premier League

meeting with Leicester City when addressing the numerous roles in which Paul Pogba has been used in recent weeks.

"Since the game against West Ham on January 22, we have lost three strikers," the interim Red Devils boss said.

"Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and even Edinson Cavani, who is injured again, unfortunately, and will be out for the next couple of weeks."

Cavani has only scored two Premier League goals in a tough season that has seen him play 614 minutes in the league.

In all competitions, Manchester United has lost two of their past three games (winning the other). After Ole Gunnar Solksjaer's departure in November, they had only lost one of their previous 20 games, with 10 victories and nine stalemates.
