Lewandowski’s hat-trick helps Bayern thrash Salzburg 7-1

Bayern Munich thrashes Salzburg in the Champions League courtesy of Robert Lewandowski’s incredible hat-trick in the first half of the clash.

netted a record-breaking hat-trick during

Bayern Munich

’s thumping 7-1 victory over

Salzburg

in the

Champions League

and made their way to the quarter-finals.

Following their 1-1 draw in the first leg, Lewandowski pulled off a magnificent display with his three goals in the first 23 minutes of the game, which made it the earliest hat-trick in the history of the competition.

It was also his fifth hat-trick in the Champions League and this tally is only better by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who have eight hat-tricks each.

Maurits Kjaergaard scored one goal for Salzburg between a brace from Thomas Muller.

Manuel Neuer had his 104 Champions League game for Bayern and went past Oliver Kahn with the most appearences in the competition. However, he could not mark it with a clean sheet.

Bayern will go against Hoffenheim on Saturday, while Salzburg will lock horns with Sturm Graz on Sunday.
