El Shennawy to return to action before CAF Champions League match
The Egyptian goalkeeper was injured during the AFCON and has been out of action to date.
goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy returned to the squad ahead of his side's crucial CAF Champions League clash with
Mamelodi Sundowns.
El-Shennawy suffered a hamstring injury during the Africa Cup of Nations with
Egypt. The 33-year-old goalkeeper has been in the starting line-up for all of Egypt's game in the competitions, including the quarter-final against Ivory Coast. He had a good performance in this match and also recorded a clean sheet, but he was injured in the 88th minute and missed the next matches.
The Red Devils have two crucial games ahead of them this week, and in the Egyptian Premier League they will have to face Misr El-Makkasa and face Mamelodi Sundowns in the Champions League. El-Shennawy is expected to play in one of these two games for his team and return to the field.
Al-Ahly will play against Mamelodi Sundowns in Cairo on Saturday.
