Shaqiri is about to join the MLS side Chicago Fire

Xherdan Shaqiri is close to joining Major League Soccer and play for Chicago Fire.

Lyon’s

Swiss midfielder is said to be ready to join Major League Soccer as

Chicago Fire

tries to finalize the deal for the Ligue 1 side’s midfielder and wants to have the

Switzerland

international in the Eastern Conference ahead of their 2022 campaign.

The 30-year-old midfielder won’t be a stranger at Chicago Fire as their Sporting Director

Georg Heitz

worked for Swiss Super League side

Basel

when

Shaqiri

was their player at the beginning of his senior career.

Shaqiri has played 100 games for Switzerland national team scoring 26 goals and has played a big part in many big European sides like

Liverpool

,

Bayern Munich

, and

Inter Milan

before joining the Ligue 1 side Lyon with a deal worth €6m in August 2021 from Liverpool after a bad spell in the Premier League.

The reports suggest that the MLS side has agreed on the transfer with the Ligue 1 side, but it hasn’t been finalized yet, and the transfer will be completed sooner or later while the player has a deal with Lyon until 2024.

Chicago Fire is said to be ready for giving the Swiss midfielder a regular place in their squad to find a better place in the league.
