Coutinho happy with scoring for Brazil after long time

The Brazilian star was able to score for Selecao after two years.

Brazilian national team

star

Philippe Coutinho

has expressed his delight at scoring for the team in the 4-0 victory over

Paraguay

after a long time.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who joined Aston Villa on loan from Barcelona in January, scored his side's second goal in the 62nd minute with a spectacular long-range shot. This was Coutinho's first goal since October 2020 for Brazil in a 5-0 victory over Bolivia. It was also Coutinho's sixth outside of the area goal during Tito's time on the Brazilian bench, and no player has been able to outperform him during this period. After the game, the Brazilian star expressed his satisfaction with his performance.

"I was absent for a long time and I came out of a very complicated injury," Coutinho told reporters.

"I was called up for the previous two games for the Brazilian team but I hardly had a chance to play. I received a new opportunity now and I am happy to have delivered.

"I am very happy to have scored again for the Brazilian national team and to have scored again in this stadium with the Brazilian fans present."

Coutinho has played 65 games for Brazil and scored 19 goals.
