Lionel Messi to miss Brest match, Pochettino confirms

The Argentinian star remains absent due to COVID-19.

after the Argentinian star tested positive for COVID-19.

"Having made good progress, Lionel Messi is continuing to work with the club's medical and performance staff, and will gradually rejoin the squad next week"

a PSG statement reads.

The Parisians’ manager Mauricio Pochettino also reflected on Messi at a press conference ahead of Ligue 1 clash against

Brest

, saying:

“Leo is not available for Saturday.

"Leo is better, but he is still under the supervision of the medical department.

"We hope he can be back in the squad as soon as possible."

Quizzed on whether the 34-year-old has made a decision on representing Argentina in the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers at the end of January, Pochettino said:

"I don't know what decision you are referring to.

"He is being assessed daily, and we can't get ahead of ourselves. We hope everyone is back as soon as possible, to be available for the team."
