Crystal Palace’s Roberts calls AFCON an incredible tournament
The Eagles assistant coach revealed that he wants his African players to return as soon as possible but he is going to watch the AFCON tournament very closely.
The
Africa Cup of Nationswill happen from January 9th to February 6th and many clubs across Europe are without some of their star players and among them are
Crystal Palace.
Three of Crystal Palace’s key players, including
Wilfried Zaha
,
Cheikhou Kouyate
and
Jordan Ayew
will be away. Notwithstanding needing them in his team,
Osian Roberts
believes AFCON is an important tournament.
“
We wish them all well in the AFCON. It’s a really important tournament,”
he told Crystal Palace’s
official website.
“I came here to Palace from the African continent, having been Technical Director of the Moroccan Football Federation. I know the great work that’s going on on the African continent to aspire to be the best level possible.
“We wish our players all the best out in Cameroon. We want all our players back as soon as possible, albeit if they are successful that might take a little longer.
“It’s an incredible tournament that we’ll be watching closely, but obviously we want the three players back in the squad as soon as possible for us,”
