Miralem Pjanic has denied that he was sent off from the Bosnian national team for a night out before their crucial World Cup qualifying game against Ukraine.

The former

Barcelona

midfielder

Pjanic

was removed after pictures spread on social media of him smoking hookah and drinking alcohol before

Bosnia

's match against

Finland

last Saturday.

The midfielder was substituted after 66 minutes against

Finland

, jeered by the crowd, with reports afterward suggesting he had been smoking and drinking the night before the game. The athlete apologized for his lack of discipline and work ethic.

According to Bosnian outlets,

Pjanic

was punished for his behavior and was sent off from the national team for disciplinary reasons.

However, sources close to the player claimed Bosnia boss

Ivaylo Petev

allowed

Pjanic

to leave the camp as they had no chance of qualifying.

Pjanic could return to Turkey and restart his loan with

Besiktas

. He's off to a good start, with four assists in eight games.

Besiktas are currently sitting sixth in the league standing, 10 points adrift of leaders

Trabzonspor

and three points out of Champions League spot. The club's president,

Ahmet Nur Cebi

, has stated his desire to purchase Pjanic, but it depends on Barcelona’s condition.
