Emiliano Sala’s jury out to consider the verdicts of the plane crash

After a businessman was accused of having played a role in a plane crash that saw Emiliano Sala lose his life, the jury in the trial has been sent out to think about its verdict.

Emiliano Sala

was in a small plane that crashed into the English Channel off the coast of Guernsey in stormy weather in 2019 as he was going to

Cardiff City

from his French club in Nantes when they acquired his services paying a multimillion-pound fee.

The 28-year-old and

David Ibbotson

, the pilot, both passed away in the incident. The 67-year-old aircraft operator,

David Henderson

, arranged that flight with William “Willie” McKay, the former agent, but he couldn’t fly himself as he went away with his wife to Paris.

He asked Mr. Ibbotson to fly instead but he didn’t have a commercial pilot's license or qualification to fly at night, with his rating to fly a single-engine Piper Malibu, had expired.

The jury was also told that moments after the incident, Henderson contacted a few people and told them to stay silent as he was worried about an investigation into his business arrangements.

He endangered the safety of the passengers and an aircraft and is on trial at Cardiff Crown Court.

He has plead guilty to some of the charges regarding trying to discharge a passenger without valid permission or authorization. The jury is now sent to start its verdicts.
