Al Hilal beat Persepolis 3-0 in the AFC Champions League quarter-final

Persepolis locked horns with Al Hilal Riyadh in the quarter-finals of the Asian Champions League today and the Arabian club won the battle 3-0.

had gone against each other six times since 2015, with Persepolis winning once, three of the encounters coming down to a draw, and Al Hilal winning two matches. Al Hilal’s head-to-head record against the Iranian side was better in their recent history as they found the back of the net ten times in those six matches, while Persepolis netted four goals. The Arabian outfit have not been defeated by Persepolis in their last five meetings, which is now extended to their last six games.

The two sides had an encounter on October 16 in the AFC Champions League which ended with Al Hilal vanquishing Persepolis 3-0 in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Salem Al Dawsari

scored the opener for his side in the 27th minute, which was the first half’s only goal; while Reza Asadi, Saeid Aghaei, Farshad Faraji, Mohammad Sharifi, Moussa Marega and Ali Albulayhi were shown a yellow card. Al Hilal had more possession during the game and

Bafetimbi Gomis

went on to double his side’s lead at the beginning of the second half.

It wasn’t enough for Al Hilal as Gomis netted his brace in the 70th minute and further sealed his side’s victory.
