Leno: "There was no clear reason why I was out”

Arsenal’s goalkeeper doesn’t understand why he has lost his place in the team.

Arsenal’s

goalkeeper

Bernd Leno

has lost his place in the team’s starting lineup and has been used as the back-up player for

Aaron Ramsdale

with only three starts in their Premier League games this season.

The Germany international conceded nine goals in three games, but Ramsdale, who joined the Gunners last month from Sheffield United, has managed to keep clean sheets in his first two games and conceded one goal in his side’s clash against Tottenham.

Despite Ramsdale’s impressive performance, Leno still doesn’t understand why Mikel Arteta has been choosing the 23-year-old over him.

"There was no clear reason why I was out, but it had nothing to do with my performance,"

he told Bild.

"He is the trainer, he decides. Of course, it's difficult for me."

After four seasons in London, the German keeper may be moving out as the Serie A champions are looking to sign him, although he claims that he is not thinking about that seriously.

"London is very nice; Milan is not bad either and closer to my home Stuttgart,"

Leno said when asked about the rumored interest from Inter

.

"But I'm not seriously thinking about that yet. I feel comfortable at Arsenal and in London.

"Only if nothing changes in my situation by winter would I have to think about things: what option do I have, how can I continue?

"But I'm concentrating on my work in training; I can't commit to anything else at the moment."
