Leicester City boss Rodgers: No bid ever made for James Maddison

Despite reports of a transfer to Arsenal, Brendan Rodgers claimed there were no offers for James Maddison.

Brendan Rodgers

has rebuffed rumors that the Gunners were close to making a deal for

James Maddison

as "all gossip," claiming that no offers have been received.

Prior to Monday's game against West Ham, Leicester City coach the 48-year-old coach stated that he feels everyone in the roster wants to stay at the King Power.

The Foxes have been used to losing important players to big-money opponents, so this is a huge step forward.

During the off-season, Maddison looked to be in high demand, but Rodgers maintained there had been no bids for the 24-year-old England international.

"There's obviously been things around James this summer but the reality is that it was all gossip, as there was never an inquiry or a bid made," Rodgers said. "There was no drama there."

The Gunners' £30 million approach for Real Madrid's Martin Odegaard may have thwarted an official proposal, but the simple truth for Leicester remains the same.

Rodgers feels the club is willing to keep its players after a second consecutive fifth-place result in the

Premier League

and the opening of a new training complex.

"Players have felt the need to move on and further their careers, which is fine, and that's the nature of the game," Rodgers said. "It will always happen and some of the biggest clubs in the world will lose their players.

"You've always got to be preparing this pipeline of players going forward so if you do lose them you get the next ones coming in. That's something we are very clear on as a club.

"I just think this summer the players have been able to reflect on where we're at as a team and a club and feel they want to be a part of that, which is great news."
