Leicester sign Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard

Leicester’s offer finally was accepted by Southampton for Jannik Vestergaard.

Leicester

have been negotiating with

Southampton

over defender

Jannik Vestergaard

and it seems now they have reached an agreement. However, different sources have reported different fees to Sky Sports news. While one has reported that the fee is £15 million, the other has reported less than that for him.

Now the 29-year-old is free to travel to Leicester to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms.

Since Wesley Fofana was ruled out for a long period with a broken leg sustained in a pre-season friendly against Villarreal last week, Leicester have been looking for a center-back and now it seems the Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers finally has been able to sign Vestergaard as he once tried in January 2020.

Vestergaard, who only has one year left on his contract, joined Southampton from Borussia Monchengladbach for a fee believed to be £18m in July 2018.

He made 32 appearances for Southampton last season as the club finished 15th in the Premier League and also he played in all six of Denmark’s games as they reached the semi-finals of Euro 2020.
