Romero finally moves to Tottenham

Atalanta’s defender Cristian Romero leaves the club to join Tottenham.

Atalanta’s

Argentinian defender

Cristian Romero

, who has been in the center of the attention recently, has finally completed his move out of the club, with

Tottenham

being his next destination.

The Premier League side had reached the agreement with Atalanta after seeing their initial offer gets rejected by the Serie A side and then increasing their offer to £42.7m (€50m) plus bonuses, making a total package worth £47m (€55m) for Romero.

The 23-year-old defender who made 42 appearances for Atalanta last season and had an impressive performance in the international games, winning the continental competition alongside his friend Lionel Messi has signed a five-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur to join the club’s other two new signings Bryan Gil and former Atalanta team-mate Pierluigi Gollini.

The Argentina international’s arrival will increase Nuno Espirito’s options in picking a defensive line for his side after the departure of the experienced Toby Alderweireld, who left the club last month.

The north London side did all they could to defeat Barcelona in the race for the player who had impressed Lionel Messi so much that some would suggest that Messi’s deal with Barcelona was broken because of that unfinished transfer Tottenham; however, will be looking to sign another defender in the remaining days of the transfer window as they already see Colombia international Davinson Sanchez made available for transfer.
