Simone Biles to compete in women’s balance beam finals

According to USA Gymnastics, Simone Biles is going to compete in women’s balance beam final on August 3.

The balance beam final is women’s artistic gymnastics’ last medal round at the Tokyo Olympics.

"

We are so excited to confirm that you will see two U.S. athletes in the balance beam final tomorrow - Suni Lee AND Simone Biles!!"

read a statement from the U.S. federation.

"Can’t wait to watch you both!"

In all four apparatus finals from August 1 to 3,

Simone Biles

had qualified but finally she withdrew from all but not the balance beam.

Biles posted an

Instagram

story talking about her struggles in training with the “twisties,” which is a term in gymnastics when a gymnast’s body and mind do not work together.

"

My mind and body are simply not in sync,”

Biles wrote in one of her story slides.

"For anyone saying I quit. I didn't quit

.”

The 24-year-old posted videos that showed her struggling in the air on two occasions but she has now deleted them.

She revealed that she suffered the phenomenon before but rather on floor and vault.

They're not fun to deal with,"

she said.

"It's honestly petrifying trying to do a skill... not having your mind and body in sync.".
