Arsenal in talks with Wolves over Ruben Neves transfer

The Gunners are keen to sign the Portuguese midfielder as a replacement for Granit Xhaka.

Ruben Neves

has been linked with a move to Emirates Stadium in recent weeks. The Portuguese midfielder was a crucial player for Wolves in their 2020-21 campaign as they finished 12th in the Premier League. Neves featured in 40 games for Wolves last season, scoring five goals and providing two assists.

According to Portuguese outlet

Record

, Arsenal are in talks with Wolves over the potential signing of Neves ahead of the next season. With

Granit Xhaka

being set to join Roma this summer, Arsenal are keen to add a new midfielder to their ranks. The Gunners are also closing in on signing

Albert Sambi Lokonga

from Anderlecht, but Neves remains their main transfer target for midfield.

Mikel Arteta is reportedly interested in employing Neves alongside Thomas Partey in his side’s midfield. However, Wolves are reportedly demanding a fee of around €40million for the 24-year-old, which might push Arsenal toward other options in the market. The Gunners might renew their interest in Sassuolo’s

Manuel Locatelli

or Brighton’s

Yves Bissouma

if they fail to sign Neves in the current transfer window.
