Barca’s Braithwaite furious over England penalty decision

The Barcelona star was disappointed and heartbroken when Denmark were eliminated from Euro 2020 in the semi-final clash against England on Wednesday.

Mikel Damsgaard

scored the opener for

Denmark

and gave them a lead with an impressive free-kick, but

Simon Kjaer

’s own goal leveled the game and forced extra-time.

In extra-time,

England

were gifted a fortunate penalty when

Raheem Sterling

was fouled on.

Denmark were left furious to be eliminated on the back of that questionable decision following all their struggles to reach Euro 2020 semi-finals.

Martin Braithwaite

talked about how the home crowd ‘could have affected’ the penalty decision, and said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo:

“We have had to swallow that. We are proud, but also incredibly disappointed in the way that it happened.

“I don’t think there has been a total justice, but I have to be careful what I say.”

England will face Italy in the final on Sunday as Roberto Mancini’s squad defeated Spain on a penalty shootout in their semi-final clash on Tuesday.

If Gareth Southgate’s side come out the winners, a 50-year wait for a trophy will end, with their first ever European Championship.
