Brighton's full-back Ben White supplants Alexander-Arnold in Euro 2020

After Trent Alexander-Arnold's unfortunate withdraw from the European Championship, England recruited Ben White to their roster.

Ben White

has been appointed as Trent Alexander-Arnold's substitute in England's

Euro 2020

selection.

After Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was forced to step down because of a thigh injury, the Brighton and Hove Albion defender has been promoted to the 26-man squad.

England overcame Romania 1-0 in their final warm-up friendly match before the tournament on Sunday in Middlesbrough, and White played the entire game.

The 23-year-old provides versatility to Gareth Southgate's side and is reported to have pleased the England manager by being at ease in both defense and holding midfield.

Some had backed James Ward-Prowse, who had grabbed the eye against Romania, to take Alexander-Arnold's spot.

White's participation has raised questions about Harry Maguire's health, as he continues to recuperate from an ankle injury and is unlikely to be fit for England's Group D opening against Croatia on June 13.

In his first complete

Premier League

season with Brighton in 2020-21, White made 36 appearances and was voted the club's player of the year by the supporters.
