English stadium restrictions to be eased after successful FA Cup test
On Saturday’s FA Cup final, the government allowed 21,000 fans to attend Wembley for Leicester's historical triumph over Chelsea.
As the test proved to be a success, sports fans will be welcomed back to sports venues across England on Monday. While outdoor venues will get opened for up to 10,000 spectators, smaller outdoor venues' capacities will be capped at 4,000 or 50 percent of their capacity.
Football, greyhound racing, horse racing, rugby league, and rugby union will be among the sports to open their doors to fans as the UK government enters the third step of their road map to ease the pandemic restrictions.
In the Championship play-off matches, Barnsley will be backed by around 4,500 for their tie with Swansea, while just over 2,000 will be in attendance when Bournemouth host Brentford in the other semi-final first leg.
However, fans will have to get used to a new set of rules with face masks, online health checks, and maintaining social distance as a part of the matchday routine.
Barnsley's club website has also advised fans "to avoid hugs, 'high-fives', handshakes, or other close contacts with those not in your social group".
