Real Madrid Castilla secures playoff spot in Raul’s debut season

After leading the Real Madrid U19 side to glory in the 2019-20 UEFA Youth League, the Spaniard has become one of the highest-rated young coaches in Spanish football.

In his debut managing season with Castilla, the 43-year-old has secured his side a play-off promotion slot thanks to a massive 4-2 win at Talavera de la Reina on Sunday.

Currently third in their group in the third level of Spanish football, Castilla went into the game knowing that victory would secure them a place in the promotion play-offs to Segunda.

Castilla also achieved a vital 3-1 victory over their group leader, Badajoz, last week, and now with 40 goals, they have scored more than any other Segunda B side.

Led by Real Madrid’s icon, Castilla are on the verge of the return to Segunda Division for the first time since 2014.
